High Definition Television? So the Network stations across the nation can no longer air their analog signal? And now everything has to be broadcast in digital quality. But unless you already have cable service through companies such as Comcast, AT&T, Astound (RCN), et al. you didn't have to worry about spending that $40 to get a Digital converter box so that you would still be able to watch your favorite shows. For the individuals like myself, I don't have cable at my apartment. With the converter box, I get about 20 stations that get some kind of signal. Yet more than half of them are in korean, spanish or some other foreign language. On a good day, (meaning sunny out, and no wind at all) 5 channels come in with strong signals. And they are Qubo (24/7 cartoons), KOFY TV 20, CBS, ABC, and Fox. Which means nothing interesting to watch until after the news in the evening in the Primetime lineup.
In conclusion, so far, this digital conversion to digital signal is not all what is cracked to be. So we cleared up the analog radio waves for state and federal emergency channels for a faster response. Where is the proof that this has made a difference?
